So beautiful. While I was reading this, I could hear Noa, my huge, white Maremmana dog, snoring peacefully next to me, and Teo, my scruffy Spinoncino, softly barking in his dreams. They teach us so much.
oh they are! even though she never had the chance to work with sheep, she has a natural tendency to group people, and she is happiest when the whole family is reunited. This is when she would lay in the centre of the room, and sleep. It is like she says: my job is done, I can relax now.
it is the unremarkable and the quiet that we clandestinely crave, as if it were the most illicit, threatening thing of all. ❤️
Reading from my couch, with Covid, sick kids tucked into my arms and legs all overlapped. As as always, your words hit in that place where aching and peace intertwine. Thank you for them.
How beautifully you express the soul-deep love and, yes, devotion that can develop between humans and beings of the canine persuasion. Especially poignant for me today. 🙏
What a lovely observation and memory. The abandoned and discarded loves we have come to know connect us to our love of frailty and impermanence. In other forms it's too dangerous to acknowledge, too huge to face. But these loves let us walk up to the abyss and not feel alone but to feel love instead. It's one of the best gifts in life. ❤️

Thank you - I adore Maremmana dogs- they are so lovely. And they do teach us so much, as you say.

What a beautiful expression of “everyday” love. Extraordinary.
THANK YOU for sharing the presence and preciousness of routines.
Thank you Kimberly x
OH MY GOSH. ADDIE. BELOVED ADDIE. I love the rhythms of daily love, expressed with such clarity between doggie and her person.
Absolutely Beautiful
