I so enjoyed this tonight. Thank you. Fragmentation is a great word for what that entails. But you have given us so many ways to work with it. I am so excited for your trip and all those gardens you are going to visit.
What a rich source of comfort and balm! Thank you Elissa. Earlier this spring I tasted a radish that changed me. My friend came up with a way to "temper" dill butter so it was thin enough to enrobe the radish like chocolate on a Dilly Bar. So beautiful, so good. I have yet to attempt this seeming magic myself, although tonight I'll pick snap peas and their greens to wilt into lemon pasta and top with homemade ricotta cheese. Meals, art, books and loved ones are keeping me together.
....from radishes to music....I appreciate these lists...I'd love for you to check out my debut album, "The Quiver" from In These Trees and Tartie..... (from a late-in-life songwriter and her Australian singer/songwriter collaborator).....
Ever since your post from a year or two ago, the one in which you talked about asparagus taking two years to grow etc., I think of you every time we cook asparagus. What a magical plant. Thanks for this <3
Dear Elissa, lovely post. My father is now in a memory care home. I love your metaphor of the of a boat full of holes. "And no amount of patching will keep us from sinking." We are all sinking - if only more people could just enjoy the boat ride.
Have a wonderful time in the UK. Try not to worry about things you can't control and have a blast. You deserve it.

Thank you for making me smile and giving me hope on a difficult day. I will reread this often to inspire and nurture.🥰💖🏆
bless you dear girl.... You clearly have three hours more each day than I do.
If you can, take a double decker bus down a leafy country road. And if you can visit the Flackley Ash, a memorable stay on my English garden tour.
Thank you for every word of this.
What a bounty of creative joys to explore! Labneh and cherry tomatoes on everything, please.

Not quite the subject, but attached is a little piece from the magazine "Cereal" on Great Dixter Garden that I thought you'd enjoy.
